It’s the opening day of the season and Les Arcs has over 100km of piste open! Due to the snowfalls and cold temperatures we had in November and early December, the higher slopes are in excellent condition. Above 2000m there is fantastic soft and light snow on the piste with plenty of cover and snow depths around 70cm. Below 2000m, there is slightly more variety with artificial snow helping to increase the base depth and providing a harder surface of around 30cm.
The Villaroger sector remains closed for now and snow depth is low on some of the lower altitude runs without snowmaking.
All in all, a good start to the season, this week should remain relatively quiet on the slopes with the holiday crowds arriving next weekend.
The forecast for the week looks to remain cold with clear skies, and a a chance of snow on Wednesday and Friday.
