Congratulations to Tignes legend – stuntman, world freeride ski champion, rally driving champion, Coreupt ski brand founder and property developer (phew!) – Guerlain Chicherit on winning the title World’s Best New Ski Chalet 2014 for his Chalet Quezac in Tignes le Brevieres.
The accolade was given to him at this weekend’s World Ski Awards in Kitzbühel, Austria. At the same time, Chalet Marco Polo in Val d’Isere was crowned France’s Best Ski Chalet, with its cave and fromagerie, spa, relaxation and entertainment areas given special mention.
Chalet Quezac was designed by Chicherit and inspired by his sporting career – and it has some unique and interesting features.
One-off pieces of sculpture and painting, including a necklace made from his crashed and burnt out rally car now hanging round the neck of a giant red penguin, can be seen in every room. There’s even a glass bath, one of only two in the world, and the actual motorbike ridden by Vin Diesel in the film Babylon on a stand in his living room! You’ll find billiards, pingpong and football tables for entertainment, and a gym with an incredible view over the resort. Outside is a heated terrace with mood lighting, sound system and lit bar. A huge jacuzzi overlooking the mountains has an inbuilt TV and speakers. To finish it off is a bubble lift in the garden.
We’ve also been lucky enough to interview Chichert at his amazing home. During our in-depth chat he told us about his ‘addiction to danger’, his plans for more aerial car stunts and dakar rally attempts, and his family life. We also filmed the man himself taking us on a guided tour of his home – click on the image above to view.
Chicherit is best known for performing the first backflip in a Mini in Tignes in 2014. He spectacularly crashed when attempting a world record for the longest car jump, and plans to try again in America next year.
